Friday

I read this quote on another blog that I just discovered (a cousin of Thom, I think). It's from a book she has: I'm not okay, you're not okay, and that's okay. I love it.

Otherwise I'm too lazy to write anything right now. Ann gave me some pills today that are supposed to supress my raging appetite. I'm going to take one as soon as I have some ice cream. I don't want to take the chance that I won't enjoy it.

What a great idea!

There's an old saw that says "Librarians don't read books; they read book reviews." While this isn't entirely true, I do read a LOT of books that I buy for my library, and loads of ed. journals, library journals, ed. books...

When I get the chance to just read because I feel like it (mostly in the summer), I have really eclectic "taste": British procedurals, Evanovitch's stephanie Plum series, history, etc. I'm reading a novel right now by Rob Roberge called More Than They Could Chew - it's absolutely not what I would ever choose on my own (classic noir; very depressing), but the author is a close friend's brother. The characterization is excellent - I just don't particularly like sad, defeatist novels.
